When you think of your roots, you often consider the place you come from, the culture you were raised in, and the history of your ancestors. For me, exploring my Indonesian roots means a profound journey, both literally and figuratively. However, I've discovered that 'coming home' doesn't necessarily mean returning to your birthplace, but rather finding home within yourself.
My Indonesian roots are a significant part of my identity. They have shaped me and enriched me with a rich culture, delicious cuisine, and a warm, welcoming community. My trip to Indonesia was an unforgettable experience, where I was able to discover the scents, tastes, and colors of my heritage. I felt a strong connection with the land and the people, and it seemed as if I left a piece of myself there when I returned home.
Still, I realized that the true 'coming home' was not only found in exploring my Indonesian roots. It goes beyond the physical land or the heritage of my ancestors. It's about an inner journey, where I discover my true self, separate from my origin and environment. I came to understand that 'coming home' means fully accepting and embracing myself, with all my unique qualities, experiences, and dreams.
This discovery has helped me better understand and appreciate myself. It makes me proud of who I am and where I come from, without letting it define me. I am a complex blend of my Indonesian roots and the influences of my current environment, but I am also so much more than that. I am an individual with my own story, passions, and ambitions.
Now, I see my Indonesian roots as an important part of my life, but not my only home. My true home is where my heart is, and that is within me. It's a place where I feel safe and loved, where I can grow and be myself. By embracing this inner journey, I've learned to cherish the beauty of my origins while simultaneously walking my own unique path in life.
So, if you ever go in search of your roots, don't forget that the most important journey you can make is one inward. It's by discovering and accepting yourself that you will truly come home, regardless of where you come from or where you're going.
